The Dell netbook might not have launched last week, as we reported before the launch of the Latitude laptops, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill suggesting that it will be launching at the end of this week instead.

Gizmodo is claiming sources have told it that the new netbook, first shown off by CEO and Chairman Michael Dell earlier in the year, will be announced on 22 August in the US.

No price as yet, however that hasn't stopped the site publishing what it believes is the final spec sheet.

Going up against the heap of netbooks on the market, Dell's variant won't feature anything above and beyond the norm from the likes of Asus, Acer, MSI or HP and sport an 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 512 or 1024MB of DDR2 800MHz RAM, an 8.9-inch screen and a solid state drive of 4, 8 or 16GB.

Other features will supposedly be Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, a 1.3-megapixel webcam, and VGA port for connecting to a monitor.

As expected from Dell the system will come with Ubuntu or Windows XP.

Dell in the UK are not currently commenting on the rumours:

"Dell has said that it plans to release a UMPC, but we don't have any
launch details to share at this time. We won't comment on speculation
of launch details that are currently circulating online," a spokesman for the company told Pocket-lint.
