Dell Latitude ON lets you get emails without boot up Access core elements without turning your laptop on

Dell has previewed a new technology that will allow users to access core elements of their laptop without having to boot up windows.

Called Dell Latitude ON, the new technology, which will be coming the two of the seven new models announced today will allow near-instant access to email, calendar, attachments, contacts and even the web without the need to boot the system's main operating system.

Expected in the coming months on the Latitude E4200 and E4300, Dell Latitude ON uses a dedicated low-voltage sub-processor and OS that can enable multi-day battery life.

The system is expected to work in a similar way to HP's QuickPlay that allows you to watch DVDs on their laptops without having to boot the OS.

The E4200 is a 12.1-inch laptop that starts at 1.0k while the 13.3-inch Latitude E4300 has a starting weight of 1.54 kg both models are expected later in the year.
